Physical Therapy 2008Physical Therapy 2008

We invite you to come by and visit us at Booth 545 during the Physical Therapy 2008 Annual Conference and Exposition. The conference takes place in San Antonio, Texas June 11-14, 2008. We look forward to showing you how the Joint Mobility Crank can be incorporated in the rehabilitation of patients with limited mobility in their lower extremities.

Joint Mobility Crank

The inability to fully flex or bend the leg limits the choices of rehab methods that are available and slows the recovery of the patient. The use of the Joint Mobility Crank, J.M.C. allows the patient to begin the recovery process earlier and gives the physical therapist an option that accommodates the limited mobility of the leg. The most popular method of rehab for lower extremity injuries is the rehab bicycle ergometer, but is limited in use because of the constraints of the patient’s range of motion of the knee or hip joints. Many post surgical Joint Mobility Crankor trauma hips or knees have a very limited flexion and extension, which do not allow full 360 degree rotation of the crank arm, restricting the therapists’ options for an optimum rehab program. This therapeutic crank arm will allow the patients to complete the entire peddling movement, even with severely restricted joints. A complete rotation helps to decrease the swelling, increase mobility, strength, and ultimately aerobic activity.

The J.M.C. is a pedaling device that can easily replace the standard pedal system on a “rehab” bicycle ergometer or similar piece of “rehab” equipment. The J.M.C. compensates for the lack of flexion in the leg through its unique adjustability and allows the patient to more quickly regain the range of motion which in turn allows the physical therapist to design a course of exercise that will speed the patient’s recovery. The adjustability is accomplished in four parameters: a combination of these adjustments has been found to greatly increase the patients’ ability to comfortably complete the revolution of the bicycle cranking action, allowing them to re-gain flexibility and mobility more quickly than with current methods.

The J.M.C is precision machined from 6061-T6 Billet aluminum on a dedicated, state-of-the-art CNC machine operated by expert machinists. It is manufactured to provide years of problem free service by the use of high quality materials.

The Joint Mobility Crank is an investment that will produce greater return by not only providing a new course of exercise for the patient intended to regain full mobility in the injured leg, but also provides an exercise alternative for those that have a permanent loss of mobility. The J.M.C. allows the adjustment of the crank action to fit the user’s range of motion and allow for a smooth workout with ergonomically correct motion.
